Artist / Musician / Singer / Song writer Carmel Whittle, originally from Newfoundland, now calls Ottawa home. She is an art facilitator / studio coordinator with H’Art of Ottawa, co-chair with Arts Health Network Ottawa and workshop leader with the Minwaashin Lodge/ICMI youth program. She is a Mixed Media Visual Artist whose art and music are strongly influenced by growing up in Newfoundland. She has participated in numerous exhibitions including the Carleton University Community exhibition, University of Ottawa’s 2013 Fulbright Human Rights Exhibition, Gallery 101’s annual fundraiser, and the Asinabka Film Festival exhibition. She portrays social injustice in her art and music and wants her artwork to show that we are all connected and that all our lives are impacted by violence towards Indigenous women, and by the persistent denials of Indigenous genocide in Canadian and world history.
